The final analysis from the Hydrotreated Renewable Diesel (HRD) trial is complete. After trialing HRD for six months – and in a range of extreme temperatures – the data shows no changes to equipment performance or operability.
In colder months, Jepson Petroleum Ltd and Lomak Bulk Carriers Corp trialed a blend of 50% HRD + 50% diesel and compared it to conventional diesel. In warmer months, they compared 100% HRD to conventional diesel.
HRD is truly a drop-in fuel.
The trial was a great opportunity to collaborate with our customers and partners to understand how low-carbon, renewable diesel performs in our Canadian climate. Here’s what one of the trial participants, Cherie, had to say: “It was a great experience to be part of the Suncor fuel trial. It feels wonderful to work for a company that cares, and is working hard to create a viable, renewable fuel, for the demands of today and the ever-changing challenges of the future.”
