DEF conveniently offered at all Jepson Petroleum locations!
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is an emissions control liquid required by modern diesel engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. It is a non-hazardous solution of 32.5% urea in 67.5% de-ionized water. DEF is used with SCR technology to remove harmful Nitrogen Oxide emissions from diesel engines. DEF is injected into the exhaust stream; it is never added to diesel fuel.
Petro-Pass offers the leading brand of high quality DEF, Air1®, which is certified by the API™ to meet ISO 22241 standards for optimal engine performance.
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is the technology of choice for most leading truck and engine manufacturers to meet the new regulations for diesel exhaust emissions.
With SCR engines, drivers must maintain adequate levels of DEF in a truck’s tank at all times.
Before a truck’s DEF tank runs empty, the driver is alerted through dashboard displays. If a truck is allowed to run out:
- the engine power is reduced
- a solid red warning will be displayed
- vehicle speed will be limited until the DEF tank is refilled
